For the past few years, the Ashland Young Professionals have hosted a charity golf outing, generously selecting us as one of the beneficiaries of their event.

Fundraising & Donations

Fundraising is crucial for the survival of The Cat House Feline Sanctuary. We rely on volunteers to help at our fundraising events and are grateful for anyone willing to host or organize fundraisers on our behalf. Past events include garage sales, plant sales, yoga classes, golf outings, and community gatherings, and we always appreciate fresh ideas!

We receive no private or government funding, and the generosity of our local community and supporters keeps us going. Every contribution, big or small, helps us continue our mission to care for the cats in our sanctuary.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are the backbone of our sanctuary. With limited paid staff, we rely on dedicated individuals and community service volunteers to keep things running. Neither our Executive Director nor our Board members receive compensation—all donated funds go directly to caring for the cats.

Daily Care Volunteers

We need help every day with:
✅ Cleaning litter boxes, feeding, watering, sweeping, and mopping
✅ Socializing with the cats (they might even demand a break for some petting!)
✅ General maintenance and organization

A minimum of four volunteers per day is needed to ensure all our kitties are cared for. We welcome volunteers seven days a week, including holidays. If you’re available during school breaks or time off from work, consider spending part of your break helping out!

Community & Group Volunteers

We are fortunate to have been supported by various community groups, student volunteers, and service organizations.

  • Local students have earned community service hours by helping at the sanctuary

  • Ashland University students have built cat trees and cubbies and provided socialization

  • Schools and local teams, like our high school girls’ cross-country team, have organized fundraisers such as 5K runs

If your school, organization, or business is looking for a meaningful way to give back, let’s collaborate to help the cats in our community!

Adopting a Friend

Our adoption fees help offset the veterinary costs for each cat, covering essential care at a fraction of what an individual would typically spend on their own for the same services. Each cat undergoes complete veterinary care before adoption. Our adoption process includes:
✔ A veterinary reference check
✔ An adoption contract
✔ Medical records for your veterinarian

All Cats and Kittens adopted from us receive:
🐾 FELV/FIV testing (or the testing of their mother)
🐾 A full series of vaccinations
🐾 Flea prevention and worming treatment
🐾 A one-year rabies vaccination
🐾 Spay/neuter surgery (including anesthesia and pain medication)

All services are completed by our local veterinarian. To inquire about a specific cat, refer to their description and contact us directly.

Foster a Cat

The number of homeless and abandoned cats in our community continues to grow beyond our sanctuary’s capacity. Fostering provides temporary homes for cats while allowing us to rescue more in need.

All foster cats are tested and vaccinated before placement. Fostering can be short-term or long-term, depending on your availability. To become a foster parent, we require:
✔ A veterinary reference check
✔ A home visit to discuss the program in detail

Only select cats are available for fostering. Contact us to learn more or to apply today!

Senior-to-Senior Program

Many senior citizens must surrender their beloved pets due to health issues, moving into care facilities, or passing away. These cats, accustomed to calm environments, are often overlooked in traditional adoptions.

Through our Senior-to-Senior Program, we match senior cats with senior adopters—providing companionship and comfort for both. There is no adoption fee, but the adopter assumes all care responsibilities. If at any point the adopter is no longer able to care for the cat, the cat returns to The Cat House, offering peace of mind for all involved.

Only select cats are eligible for this program. Contact us for more details or to apply.

Thank You!

Your donations, whether financial, supplies, or time, make a direct impact on the lives of the cats in our care. We’re grateful for your support in helping us create a safe, loving environment for our feline residents. Thank you for being a vital part of our sanctuary’s success!
